Notes on topography, flora, and fauna

The 10-acre Kelley Farm Preserve is a saltwater farm in the village of Bernard on Mount Desert Island. The property is almost entirely open fields which slope gently down to Cousins Creek, a tidal inlet in upper Bass Harbor.

The preserve enjoys agricultural soils of statewide significance. Kelley Farm is now the site of community garden plots. Additionally, MCHT runs community gardens at Babson Creek Preserve in Somesville.

How Kelley Farm became open to the public

MCHT purchased the property from the Kelley family in 2014.
