Join us for a hands-on volunteer workday at Cousins River Preserve with our friends from the American Chestnut Foundation Maine Chapter. Activities will include planting a few American chestnut trees and caring for the existing stand of chestnuts. We will plant, weed, mulch, and put up deer fencing.
No prior plant care work experience is needed. Just bring a willingness to help and a desire to bring back one of Maine’s most threatened native trees. What to bring:
- Work gloves
- Water
- Sunscreen/bug repellent (as desired)
What to wear:
- Comfortable closed-toed shoes or work boots
- Long pants (recommended due to ticks)
