Acquired by MCHT in 2009, Treat Island lies at the edge of easternmost Maine at the confluence of Cobscook and Passamaquoddy bays. The Island has been a favorite destination for generations in the local community based on its exquisite beauty and easy access from the shore.
On Saturday, July 25th pack up the family, wear your hiking boots, bring a picnic lunch, and join us to explore the island’s many beaches, meadows, and rocky headlands! Eastport Windjammers will transport folks from Eastport and Lubec to spend part of the morning on the island.
The boat will leave from Eastport at 9 a.m. and pick up passengers from Lubec around 9:30 a.m. Passage back to Eastport and Lubec will begin at 12 p.m. MCHT staff will be on hand with a boat in case of emergency. Children under 16 must be chaperoned.
The event will be cancelled if inclement weather.
Come prepared for the elements – weather, insects, uneven terrain, and time away from indoor plumbing – there are no bathroom facilities on the island. Wear footwear that is suitable for walking on beaches, rocks, forest paths. Wear or bring footwear that can get wet getting out of the boat at the island.
