Join local area partners for a paddle on the Orange River in celebration of the water trail

Join local area partners for a paddle on the Orange River in celebration of the water trail. We will put in on Orange Lake and paddle down the river to Playhouse Lane. An optional stop including a guided hike is available at Estey Mountain with Downeast Coastal Conservancy and we will all stop for a provided lunch.

We’ll meet at Cobscook Insitute in Trescott at 9am, then be shuttled/carpool to the launch site.

Canoes and gear are provided (reach out if you prefer to paddle your own boat).

What to bring:
  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Be prepared for weather & bugs!
What to wear:
  • Bring an extra layer and a hat!
  • Waterproof shoes, or shoes you don’t mind getting wet.

The Orange River Water Trail is a flat-water trail including miles of fresh water teeming with wildlife. Local organizations have increased recreation access within the watershed with the addition of new picnic areas, campsites, and hiking trails. The Orange River Water Trail is brought to you by a partnership of Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Downeast Coastal Conservancy, Cobscook Shores, Downeast Salmon Federation, and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
