Meet the Marsh!

A Harvest Community Event and Bonfire at Cousins River Fields & Marsh

The Fun:

On Sunday, November 14, come learn how you can address climate change and create a new public preserve in Yarmouth—all while enjoying an afternoon of tasty local snacks, drinks provided by Liquid Riot, craft vendors, and a bonfire.

We’ll also take you on guided walks of this potential community gem!

Who’s Coming:

– Cash bar featuring the newest beers and fall-inspired cocktails from Liquid Riot Bottling Co.
– Snacks from Niyat Catering (Ethiopian treats), Rocky Coast Cheesecake (yum!), Hansel’s Orchard (apples)
– Some of your favorite craft vendors from the Yarmouth Farmer’s Market: Artascope, Emma B Garcelon textiles, Even Keel Card Co., Fruit of the Forest (foraged mushrooms), Tender Soles Farm (kimchi and produce) and JoMo Maine Pottery.

The Partners:

Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Royal River Conservation Trust, Freeport Conservation Trust, and Portland’s craft distillery, Liquid Riot, are working together to conserve this beautiful open space and protect the river’s 220-acre marsh system.

The Details:

Join us from 2:00 pm until dark (approx. 4:30 pm). This event is free and open to all ages. Drinks, food, and local craft items will be available for purchase. (Credit cards accepted on-site.)

Rain date: Sunday, November 21.

The Mission:

Protecting this valuable salt marsh will make Yarmouth’s coast more resilient to climate change. In the video below, MCHT’s Senior Conservation Planner Jeremy Gabrielson explains how.

We can’t wait to see you at this special event to raise awareness and funding to protect Cousins River Fields and Marsh!

The Fundraising:

We have just over $240,000 left to raise to protect this property, and thanks to a matching grant from a generous donor, every gift will now be matched dollar for dollar!
