Tatia Bauer, Marsh Restoration Program Manager

Tatia (she/her) has committed her life to the study, enjoyment, and protection of natural resources. She completed an undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a master’s thesis studying pollinator restoration ecology, with various outdoor careers in between.
She led back-country trail crews, guided sea kayak expeditions, surveyed endangered owls, marked trees for forest restoration operations, and most recently she completed resource inventories and wrote management plans for conserved public lands. Tatia then turned to Maine with its magical coastline, marshes, forests, and bogs, endless outdoor opportunities, and communities of people working hard to conserve wild places.
Tatia has been with MCHT since 2022.
On land conservation: “I feel most like my authentic self when I’m outside, so I’m grateful to have a career that allows me to work in nature and also to protect and improve ecological systems. Everyone deserves the opportunity to develop a strong sense of place with the natural world, and we should all work toward fostering resilient ecosystems.”
On the job: Tatia focuses on expanding the scale and impact of salt marsh restoration practices in the state of Maine by coordinating partners, finding projects, and leading within the Maine Tidal Marsh Restoration Network. Luckily, this also involves exploring salt marshes and monitoring project success through time.
