Maine Coast Heritage Trust Launches New Brand Identity and Website to Reflect Expanding Conservation Role

New logo and digital platform signal a broader, more connected vision for conservation statewide

Topsham, ME — March 26, 2026 — Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) today announced the launch of a new brand identity, including a new logo and website, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s evolution and its commitment to accelerating conservation across Maine.

Maine is changing — and conservation plays a critical role in ensuring a healthy, sustainable future. The state is facing mounting pressures, including more extreme weather and rising sea levels due to climate change, an increasing need for affordable housing, and continued wildlife and habitat loss. These challenges are reshaping Maine’s lands and waters — and the communities, economies, and ecosystems that depend on them.

Conservation plays a vital role in addressing these pressures. It sustains wildlife and plant life, supports working lands and waterfronts, and ensures that people have access to nature. It also requires balancing the many needs of communities — ecological, economic, and social.

“This moment calls for leadership and increased collaboration that accelerates the pace and scale of conservation,” said Kate Stookey, president and CEO of MCHT. “Our new brand identity reflects how MCHT is evolving to meet that need — building on our strong foundation while expanding our impact across the state.”

Since 1970, MCHT has worked in partnership with communities, land trusts, and public agencies to conserve Maine’s lands and waters. Today, that work is growing in scale and intentionality — with greater focus on landscape-level conservation, deeper engagement with local communities and Tribal nations, and a stronger role in statewide planning and collaboration.

The new MCHT brand identity reflects this evolution. It honors the organization’s history while better representing the full breadth of its work — from coastal waters to inland forests, farms, and working lands — and the partnerships that make that work possible.

“I’m optimistic that this new brand identity will help us make our work more visible and accessible to more people, while maintaining the quality and trust that MCHT is known for,” said Stookey. “It reflects how conservation has grown in complexity and importance over time, and gives us a stronger way to communicate the many ways this work supports Maine’s lands, waters, and communities.”

MCHT’s new logo features imagery that reflects interconnected systems that conservation protects. The design emphasizes collaboration and interdependence, while an expanded color palette evokes the diversity of Maine’s landscapes, from coastal waters to farmland, trails, and forests. A sense of motion within the mark reflects the dynamic, evolving nature of conservation and MCHT’s forward momentum.

MCHT’s new website expands opportunities for people to engage with conservation. Features include an interactive “Explore a Preserve” map, enhanced storytelling about conservation projects and partnerships, and new ways for individuals and communities to get involved.

The brand identity refresh is the result of a multi-year, collaborative process that included input from staff, board members, volunteers, partners, and supporters. Private foundations that share MCHT’s vision for Maine’s future provided grant funding to support the effort.
