Psyched for Spring

Mar 25 | 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Join us to welcome Kirk Gentalen who will regale us with an evening of photos, stories, fun facts, tips, and chuckles about “all spring naturey things.”

Spring is one of top four seasons for nature observing! Rising from a season of ‘survival’ (‘winter’), spring brings a heightened anticipation with promises of thrills, energy and delights — and always delivers! It’s a season of growth, increasing warmth and daylight, and shifts in wildlife behavior and participants that’s teaming with flowers, migration, and carnivorous butterfly caterpillars — a little something to get every nature observer ‘psyched for spring’.

On March 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Thomaston Public Library, the Thomaston Garden Club and Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) will be hosting ‘Psyched For Spring’ — an evening of slides, stories, info, tips and chuckles all about ‘all spring naturey things’ to look for and forward to along midcoast Maine.

The show will be led by Kirk Gentalen, MCHT midcoast regional steward, who brings over 33 years of environmental education/ecotourism experience to the talk. He’s led hikes from Maine to California to Alaska, and has spent the last 22 years living, working, and observing in Knox County (Vinalhaven and St George). Gentalen keeps two nature blogs – Vinalhaven Sightings Report (vinalhavensightings.blogspot.com) and ‘Nature Bummin’ with Kirk Gentalen (https://www.mcht.org/impact-stories/welcome-to-nature-bummin/) — and his nature writing and photography have been featured in Ranger Rick and BWD (the magazine formerly known as ‘Bird Watchers Digest’).
