The Island Soundscape Project (ISP) presents Soundmarks, an immersive sound installation based on recordings gathered at a wide variety of different Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) preserves. Soundmarks will be at the George B. Dorr Museum at College of the Atlantic from now through August, 2026.
Soundmarks is an ever-changing soundscape that interposes sounds from an audio database recorded over a span of two years at MCHT sites from southern Maine up through Washington County. As such, this piece is a compression of the sonic experiences available to preserve visitors and outlines the contours of Maine’s unique soundscape.
Regular spring and summer hours at the Dorr Museum to be announced. The installation will be up through the end of August.
Soundmarks is presented thanks to the generous support of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.
