This is our seventh season monitoring the run and we’re excited to see how restoration and stocking efforts pan out for the numbers of returning fish in this watershed.
Whether you’ve volunteered to count in years past or are new and interested in helping out this year, we’d love to have your help counting alewives at Seal Cove Fishway between May 15th and June 15th.
Interested volunteers can sign up for 10-minute intervals scheduled three times per day, throughout the migration month.
An orientation for new volunteers will be held on Wednesday, May 13th. (Rain date: May 14th from 4-5pm). We’ll meet at the fishway at the southern outlet of Seal Cove Pond to go over the history of the run, alewife ecology, monitoring protocols, and field any questions.
Please register for the orientation. If you are unable to make the orientation, and would like to be involved, please email Renee Duncan directly to schedule a different time to be oriented to the program.
Questions? For more information about the volunteer orientation or about this program in general, please email MCHT Renee Duncan.
