On land conservation: “To me, voluntary land conservation is one of the most tangible ways to have an impact on the environment and on quality of life. Our work will last for generations—few can say that.”

On the job: In mainland and island communities from Lincolnville to Surry, including Isle au Haut and Islesboro, Ciona works with landowners who wish to restrict development on, donate, or sell their land for conservation. She also serves as a resource to local land trusts and towns on conservation-related projects or issues, and represents MCHT on multiple coalitions and larger efforts.
