Seaduck Point, Beals Island
Encompassing one-third of Beals Island, this 168-acre forested preserve welcomes visitors to its secluded beach bounded by granite shores.
Seaduck Point is good for
- Hiking – Hike 1.5 miles roundtrip along an inviting trail that leads to the preserve’s scenic sand and gravel beach on the shores of Western Bay.
- Photography – Capture images of iconic coastal Maine scenery of waves pounding rocky headlands and offshore islands.
How to get there
Seaduck Point is accessible from Jonesport via Bridge Street, which connects Beals Island to the mainland. After crossing onto Beals Island, bear left onto Bay View Drive. In 0.2 mile, take a right on Elm Street, and then immediately bear left onto Mill Pond Road. Head past the school and turn left on Bungalow Road in 0.3 mile. Quickly reach intersection and stay left on Seaduck Road. Continue to the parking lot just before the gate (the road beyond the gate is a private way).

How this place became open to the public
The Seaduck Point Preserve has been long in the making. It was formally part of a larger 300+ acre property. The previous owners generously donated the preserve to MCHT in 2018. The remaining portions of their property were set aside for future development, including affordable housing.
