Here are some fun ways to get out on the coast.
Explore Casco Bay
We want to share with you a map of all the public access points in Casco Bay. This includes MCHT preserves, local land trust preserves, boat launch sites, camp sites, and more.
Learn about a preserve-in-the-making
Like the idea of a new place to explore in Yarmouth? We want to give you an insider look at 82 acres on the Cousins River Marsh and tell you all about why this land is important to conserve. Tour the future preserve on your own and watch a video about how protecting this place makes the coast more resilient to climate change.
Go on a treasure hunt!
Download the geocaching app on your phones and get ready for a new way to explore several MCHT preserves with friends and family. Look for the Shindig locations in Brunswick, Yarmouth, and Harpswell and the let the fun begin!
Brush up on Malaga Island history
This MCHT preserve in Phippsburg was once home to a mixed-race community, forcibly removed by the state in 1912. Today you can still find evidence of the life these residents lived when you visit the island. We encourage all to learn more about this awful and important piece of Maine history.
Visit kid-friendly preserves
Jane Arbuckle, MCHT’s director of stewardship, shares her favorite places to bring kids on the coast. Plan your next summer adventure.
Adventure beyond Casco Bay
MCHT has dozens of incredible preserves up and down the coast—all free and open to the public. We’re all looking for fun and safe activities this summer, and spending time outside is the way to go.
