All the events below are designed to bring you closer to the work you make possible. You’ll have the opportunity to meet MCHT staff and your fellow Next Wavers—all committed to keeping the coast Maine, just like you.

Saturday, July 31, 2021
See a preserve in the making – Little Whaleboat Island

  • 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • 25 people max. First come, first served.

We’ll help coordinate transportation from Mere Point in Brunswick for 25 people to see this special island that we’re now working to conserve. Feel free to bring your own boat, but please register so we know how many people to expect. BYO picnic!

A sunset cruise from Portland to Little Whaleboat Island

  • 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • $50 per person

Step aboard the Odyssey in Portland, grab a seat (upper or lower deck), crack open your beverage of choice, and ride with us up Casco Bay to Little Whaleboat Island. We’ll fill you in on the many completed MCHT projects we pass—but the high point will be Little Whaleboat at sunset, one of the last undeveloped jewels of Casco Bay and a priority fundraising project.

Join us for a casual hike at Woodward Point! This is one of MCHT and Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust’s newest preserves. Bring the family for a short hike to the beach where we will be able to explore and hang out.

In the spring of 2020, as our collective reckoning with systemic racism reached a new inflection point, MCHT doubled down on its commitment to building diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) within our organization. In this gathering, MCHT staff and board members from the DEIJ committee will share more information about the work done to date and where we go from here.
