2023 Summer Celebration – You’re Invited!
Every year, on the first Friday in August, we look forward to our annual gathering on Mount Desert Island to celebrate the conservation successes of the past year that you helped make possible and raise a toast to everyone who helps keep the coast open, working, healthy, and beautiful.

Beals Lobster Pier
182 Clark Point Road, Southwest Harbor
Join us this year in a classic Maine waterfront setting with plenty of lobster served fresh off the boat. We have a lot to celebrate!
You’re invited to a festive gathering at Beal’s Lobster Pier to celebrate the invaluable role you play in land conservation in Maine. We look forward to honoring your unique contributions and the collective impact that MCHT’s lead supporters had in 2022.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres served. Dress is cocktail casual.

Summer Boat Tours
Mount Desert Boat Tour

Northeast Harbor
Join us aboard The Asticou with Captain Linda Greenlaw, departing from Northeast Harbor. We’ll take an afternoon tour through the Cranberry islands then up into Somes Sound for stunning views from the water of the wild expanses of Acadia National Park.

Casco Bay Boat Tour

Portland
Departing from Long Wharf in downtown Portland, we’ll cruise aboard The Islander through the beloved islands of lower Casco Bay.
We’ll highlight the work on several MCHT partnership projects and preserves.

Cobscook Bay Boat Tour

Eastport
We’ll picnic onboard as we tour the upper reaches of Cobscook Bay where MCHT’s conserved land helps protect the pristine waters of one of Maine’s most remote bays.

CODE RED: Climate, Justice, and Natural History Collections
Portland | 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 pm
Supported by scientists and cultural specialists from communities across Maine, the exhibit called CODE RED at the Maine Historical Society focuses on how museums collect, and the role of humans in creating changes in society, climate, and biodiversity. Special discount for the MCHT community!

Winter Tracking Talk

Join MCHT naturalist and regional land steward Kirk Gentalen at the Camden Public Library for an in-person talk about tracking wildlife in the wintertime.

Winter Animal Tracking Walk
Rockport | 9:30 am — 12:00 p.m.
Join naturalist and MCHT land steward Kirk Gentalen for a lively morning outdoors discovering some of the wildlife stories that Erickson Fields Preserve in Rockport has to offer.

Join Merryspring Nature Center and MCHT’s Kirk Gentalen for an engaging look at the fisher, a fascinating (and often misunderstood) resident of the Maine woods.

Winter Animal Tracking Walk

Join MCHT naturalist Kirk Gentalen at Merryspring Nature Center in Camden for an all-ages winter walk to look for and interpret animal tracks, trails, and tunnels in the snow. Sign up today – space is limited!
