Winter Animal Tracking Walk
at Merryspring Nature Center
Join Maine Coast Heritage Trust and Merryspring Nature Center in Camden on Saturday, January 21 for a lively morning outdoors on a tracking walk for all ages led by Maine Coast Heritage Trust steward and nature guy Kirk Gentalen. We’ll discover some of the wildlife stories that fresh animal tracks have to tell.
Fresh snow captures animal tracks, trails, and tunnels providing lessons untaught any other season. With its varied habitats, Merryspring offers hundreds of clues for the intrepid outdoorsperson who knows what to look for.
Deer, coyote, fox, raccoon, and fisher tracks are all possibilities when Merryspring is under a blanket of snow. Kirk will also share how to look for clues to the presence of owls. In Kirk’s words, “There’s so much potential for exploration, it’s literally insane!”
