Seaspray Summer Paddling Series: Little Whaleboat and Whaleboat Islands II
Explore Casco Bay with Seaspray Kayaking

Little Whaleboat Island with Whaleboat Island in the distance
Maine Coast Heritage Trust has teamed up with Seaspray Kayaking to offer a series of 7 guided paddles to MCHT preserves in Casco Bay this summer!
These trips are offered by Seaspray Kayaking of Brunswick and managed and led by their experienced paddling guides.
Each trip will take you to an MCHT preserve for a one-of-a-kind Maine island experience and a close-up look at the positive impact of land conservation on the Maine coast.
Register for the trip and MCHT will keep you in the loop about more trips and events throughout the year and what you can do to help protect these special places.
Destination: Little Whaleboat and Whaleboat Island Preserves

Departing from Mitchell Field in Harpswell, you’ll paddle to one of MCHT’s newest preserves, Little Whaleboat Island, conserved in 2021.
This beloved island features two beautiful campsites (popular destinations on the Maine Island Trail), three crescent cobble beaches, and flat rock ledges overlooking seal haul outs on the southern end of the island.
Just a short paddle away is Whaleboat Island. At 122 acres, it’s the largest wild island in Casco Bay with a classic rocky shoreline, pebble beaches, and an expansive meadow awaiting your exploration.
This trip is appropriate for adults and children (8 years old and above recommended) of all skill levels. Beginners welcome.
