Join MCHT’s Downeast Stewards for an opening celebration of the new Meserve Head Preserve in Machias on Saturday, June 29th. Drop in between 10am-12pm to explore this new community preserve, walk the newly created trails, and learn about the property’s beautiful and historic features, including a remnant 1800s-era homestead and cemetery.

At 10:30am, beginning in the parking area, MCHT Stewards will share more information about the preserve’s history and new conservation efforts. The guided history walk-and-talk will then continue down the trail to the family homestead and cemetery. We’ll conclude the walk with spectacular views of Machias from the overlook at the top of Meserve Head before returning to the parking area.

The preserve is located on Elm Street in Machias, approximately one mile from the intersection of Rte. 1 and College Hill. Please carpool, if possible, as parking is limited. Registration for this event is not required but helpful!

Participants are encouraged to stop by Mason’s Brewing Company in Machias after their preserve visit. In honor of the preserve opening, Mason’s is donating 10% of their proceeds between noon and 5pm that day to support the stewardship of Meserve Head Preserve. Thank you, Mason’s Downeast!
