Caitlin (she/her) spent her childhood in Southern Maine but ventured to Canada to acquire a B.S. in Marine Biology from Dalhousie University. Caitlin happily returned home to Maine after college. She gained work experience in marine education and as a sternman on a lobster fishing boat in Stonington before settling into two years as an Island Institute Island Fellow on Chebeague Island. Directly following the Fellowship she undertook a Masters in Community Planning and Development: Land Use and Environment from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine and graduated before beginning work at MCHT. She has served as a seasonal staff member and as a full-time regional steward in Southern Maine before shifting into her current role.

Caitlin commutes to work on a ferry from her home in the heart of Casco Bay, Chebeague Island. She stays involved in the community by volunteering for several local organizations. She enjoys spending time with her two young children. In her spare time Caitlin keeps her feet moving by dancing, snowboarding, and spending time in and on the ocean.

Caitlin has been with MCHT since 2014.

On land conservation: “Land conservation protects what people love and enjoy about Maine—and sometimes they don’t even realize it. The happiness, fulfillment, and peace that comes with taking a trip out to an island or walking a coastal trail is essential. I see it first-hand: time in nature brings out the kindness in people.”

On the job: Caitlin monitors many of the conservation easements that Maine Coast Heritage Trust holds in Midcoast and Southern Maine.
