Birding at Sipp Bay
Co-sponsored by Fundy Audubon
November 18, 2017 - 9:00 am-11:00 am
Departing from (or event address): Burby Road, Perry
Join MCHT steward Deirdre Whitehead and Fundy Audubon's Woody Gillies for a morning of guided birding on the beautiful MCHT Sipp Bay Preserve.
We will scan the waters surrounding the peninsula for wintering sea ducks such as mergansers, scoters, buffleheads, goldeneyes and loons. Bald eagles nest nearby and are often seen. The trip will involve some short easy walking and several spotting scopes will be available to view the ducks out in the bay.
Time permitting, some of us may go to Gleason Cove after we are finished at Sipp Bay to scan Gleason Cove for sea ducks missed at Sipp Bay.
From the west, follow Route 1 north from the Pembroke intersection of Route 1 and Route 214 for 3.8 miles and turn right on Burby Road.
From the east and the intersection of Route 1 and Route 190 in Perry, follow Route 1 south for 2.8 miles and turn left on Burby Road to the Sipp Bay Preserve.
For more information, contact Woody Gillies at 726-5570 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. This field trip will run, rain or shine.
