Full Moon Bonfire & Snowshoe
Vinalhaven, Huber Preserve
March 10, 2017 - 5:00 pm-8:00 pm
Departing from: Skoog Park, Vinalhaven
This trip is rescheduled from February 10.
Nothing compliments a full-moon snowshoe like a bunch of s'mores and hot chocolate around a toasty fire!
Join regional steward Kirk Gentalen and Maine Coast Heritage Trust and the Vinalhaven Land Trust for a fun evening at the Huber Preserve on Vinalhaven on Friday, March 10. This event is free and open to the public. There is no pre-registration necessary.
Join us for a magical night! The group will meet at 5:00 pm at the VLT parking area at Skoog Park on Vinalhaven to carpool to MCHT's Huber Preserve. Kirk will meet the group there to snowshoe roughly a mile to the bonfire. We'll look for animal tracks along the way!
Once darkness has settled in, we'll snowshoe along Seal Bay and then back through the Huber Preserve Woods.
What to bring:
- Wear warm clothes and dress in layers
- bring your own snowshoes
- wear warm boots and socks if there is not enough snow to snowshoe on
- water bottle
- bring your own travel mug or cup for hot chocolate
- flashlight or headlamp. We'll be walking/snowshoeing out by moonlight!
