Lampson Preserve Night Sound Hike, Castine

Field Trip Description

Night life on the Lampson Preserve includes taking in the sunset and great views from the steep banks of the Bagaduce River. Then we'll listen for Woodcock, Owls and anything else we can find in the diverse habitats of fields, meadows and woods. The ¾ Moon offers a chance for some great stargazing as well, weather permitting.

Directions & Where to Meet

Delorme Map 15 (Grid A-2) - Preserve entrance is at a parking area along Route 199, just north of the junction between 166 & 199 (southern most junction).

What to Bring & What to Expect

Participants should bring good walking shoes (not sandals), extra layers of clothing (examples: wind breaker, rain jacket, fleece), water, food, flashlight, and a hat. In addition, you are encouraged to bring a camera, binoculars, and field guides. Participants should expect easy to moderately difficult trails that will include inclines, uneven footing, and rough terrain.
