Hawkwatch time on Whaleboat Island
I hear that no place along the coast is better for watching migrating hawks than Whaleboat Island, and that early fall is a perfect time to see them — and Merlins, Kestrels and other raptors — by the hundreds (especially if the wind is blowing down from the North).
So, if the weather cooperates, I’m planning on joining local MCHT staffers, and accomplished birder Paul Donahue, the first saturday of the Fall (September 26th) at 10 am, to see this amazing scene unfold.
Interested? Check out our plan for the trip here at our website or at MCHT’s Facebook Page.
Here’s to staying outdoors and enjoying the unique beauty of the Maine coast long after Summer’s just a memory!
