Enjoy a boat tour of this stunning array of granite and spruce islands in the legendary Merchant Row archipelago between Deer Isle and Isle au Haut. The islands in this area are recognized as "unsurpassed in beauty," most darkly wooded and fringed with white and pink sloping granite shores. We'll stop for a picnic lunch on Green Island, heading up the stone wharf and short trail to the old quarry, where you may choose to take a dip in the popular swimming hole. A member of the local land trust, Island Heritage Trust, will join us to talk about our collaborative efforts at conserving these stellar islands.
Departs from Stonington, 10am-1:30pm, $38. Rain date August 9.
