You will be paddling a canoe through one of the most pristine estuaries on the eastern seaboard, the largest wetland ecosystem and one of the least known parts of Mount Desert Island. The group will canoe up past a large naturally occurring marsh and cranberry bog, experience incredible views, and see abundant wildlife, possibly including black ducks, heron, otter, muskrat, eagles, osprey, among others. This trip holds something for everyone - canoers and kayakers, birders, photographers and those who like to experience its natural treasures at a slower pace.
This is a fully active 3 hour trip! Although there will be trip leaders to guide the group, participants are expected to paddle their own boats. Groups of family and friends may stay together or join others as numbers require to fill out the canoes. Some special accommodations may be made.
Mount Desert Island, 9am-12 Noon, $10 per person if you use one of our canoes; free if you bring your own. Rain date August 20.
