June 21: Seabirds of Casco Bay

Tour eastern Casco Bay and several offshore islands that host a variety of nesting seabirds every year. Seabird islands viewed from the boat will include Jenny (a major tern restoration site for common and roseate terns), Flag (the largest concentration of common eiders nesting in Casco Bay), Mark (a mixed heron rookery), and Ragged (common eiders, black guillemots and osprey). We may also spot bald eagles, common loons, Wilson's storm-petrels, and other waterbirds. We will be joined by a representative of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife which manages several of these islands. You'll also learn about the area's natural and human history as we swing past MCHT's Malaga and Bear Islands closer to the mainland.

Departs from Phippsburg, 9am-12:30pm, $35. Rain date June 22.
