Maine Coast Heritage Trust Celebrates 40 Years
In 1970, while witnessing dramatic changes to the Maine Coast, co-founders Peggy Rockefeller and Tom Cabot joined together to form Maine Coast Heritage Trust. In the years that have followed, MCHT has helped to conserve more than 135,000 acres of land, including 290 entire coastal islands. Maine Coast Heritage Trust has also become a leader within the greater land conservation community: pioneering the use of conservation easements, forming the Maine Land Trust Network, and helping to establish the Land Trust Alliance. The following links provide a closer look at Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s many accomplishments over the past four decades.
